(The Heidelberg Catechism)
<제 2 부>
(LORD’s Day 28)

Question 75. How are you admonished and assured in the Lord’s supper, that you are a partaker of that one sacrifice of Christ, accomplished on the cross, and of all His benefits?
Answer:
In this way: Christ has commanded me and all believers to eat of this broken bread and drink of this cup in remembrance of him. With this command he gave these promises: 1 First, as surely as I see with my eyes the bread of the Lord broken for me and the cup given to me, so surely was his body offered for me and his blood poured out for me on the cross. Second, as surely as I receive from the hand of the minister and taste with my mouth the bread and the cup of the Lord as sure signs of Christ’s body and blood, so surely does he himself nourish and refresh my soul to everlasting life with his crucified body and shed blood.

- 주의 만찬 – 그리스도께서 제자들과 함께 저녁식사하실 때, 직접 명령으로 제정하셨기 때문이다;
- 주의식탁 – 그리스도께서 제자들과 함께 저녁식사 하시려 식탁에 기대셨을 때, 제정하셨기 때문이다;
(The Lord’s Supper has several names:
- The Lord’s Supper, since its institution was taken place while Christ and His disciples were at supper;
- The Lord’s Table, since it was instituted at their evening meal table where Christ was the host;
- Eucharist, since it is a sacrament or ceremony of Thanksgiving done by Jesus to God before He broke it to give His disciples.)
