(1. God is good, so He created a man, a male and a female in righteousness and holiness.
- God created the man in His own likeness and image.
- God’s likeness and image are engraved in the spirit and the soul of the man, thus the man is indeed the image of God. God also gave them gifts. They are an office by which they could rule the whole creation on the earth, and a duty to faithfully carry out the office.
- When Jesus of Nazareth manifest His three-fold office, the Prophet, the Priest and the King we understand that we are also created with the same office with a respective duty to carry it out faithfully. We are endowed with the three-fold office by God: the Prophet, Priest, and the King.
- Adam with his wife is the image of God, thus they possess the true knowledge of God. With such knowledge, they are given the Authority or Dominion to rule over the whole creation with an appropriate Power and the Talent.
- Adam is not created as a perfected Image of God. Rather his originally created status is progressive. Adam is on his way to the God-purposed perfect Image of God by glorifying God in his obedience and love. Through his cultivating and ruling the earth, Adam could have perfected the Image of God and receive the promised eternal life as a reward for his love and obedience to God’s commandments. But he failed and corrupted his whole being.
- The office and duty of the prophet are to know God truly and rightly. The office and duty of the priest are to keep his holiness by loving God with his whole being. The office and the duty of the king are righteously living an eternally blessed life by glorifying and praising God. Therefore, Adam as the Image of God is to use all the gifts of God righteously within God’s covenantal frame.)
