3문) 어디로부터 당신의 비참함을 알게 되나요?

Answer: From the law of God. (1)

- 여기서 계명을 여러 가지러 이해 할 수 있다. 성경전체가 될 수 있고, 구약성경이기도 하고, 모세오경이기도 하고, 출애굽기20-24에 있는 언약 책이기도 하고, 열 가지 말씀, 즉 십계명이기도 하다.
- 사람의 의지와 관계된 도덕법으로서, 10가지 말씀(10계명)은 시내산이전 부터 아담과 그의 후손들에게 하나님께서 자신의 뜻을 나타내신 대표적인 계명이다.
- 그런데 모든 사람은 하나님의 법을 알면서도 지키지 않는 악한 본성을 가지고 있다. 그 이유는 하나님과의 언약법을 그 양심에서 어겼기에, 저주를 받아 영혼이 타락(부패)하였고, 그 결과 삶 전체가 비참에 빠진 것이다. 그리고 그 환경도 비참함 아래에 저주를 받았다. (창세기3:17; 로마서 8:20)
(1. Here is the Law of God can be understood in various ways: The whole Scriptures, the Old Testament, the Five Books of Moses, Exodus chapters 20-24, the Book of Covenant, or the Ten Word, that is Ten Commandments.
- The Ten Words are a Moral Law related to the will of a man. It was given to Adam and all of his posterity prior to the Mt. Sinai. It is the Will of God revealed to all human race.
- All men have an evil inclination that disobeys the Law of God. It was the result of their own rebellion against the Will of God in their conscience. When they rebelled against God’s Will willingly and voluntarily, God brought their hearts under the promised curse as the punishment for their sin. Therefore their whole life and their environment are in misery under God’s curse, Genesis 3:17; Romans 8:20)
4문) 하나님의 계명은 우리에게 무엇을 요구하시나요?
답) 그리스도께서는 마태복음 22장 37-40절에서 그 계명을 간단하게 가르치십니다, “네 마음을 다하고, 목숨을 다하고, 뜻을 다하여 주 너의 하나님을 사랑하라 하셨으니, 이 것이 크고 첫째 되는 계명이요, 둘째는 그와 같으니, 네 이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하라 하셨으니, 이 두 계명들이 온 율법들과 선지자들의 강령이니라.”(1)

Question 4. What does the law of God require of us?
Answer: Christ teaches us that briefly, Matt. 22:37-40, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first and the great commandment; and the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” (1)

1.하나님께서는 언약으로 우리를 자녀로 삼으셨다. 따라서, 일반 적으로 왕이 백성에게 명령하는 “순종하라”를 넘어선, “하나님을 사랑하라”는 의무를 명령하셨다. 권면도, 충고도, 조언도 아니라 “언약의 명령”이다. 아내가 남편에게, 자식이 부모에게 이를 따라 순종뿐만 아니라, “사랑하라”는 명령이 주어졌다. 계명에 순종함이 하나님을 사랑하는 표식이다. 사랑없는 순종은 의미 없다. 순종없는 사랑도 감성일 뿐이며, 자신과 하나님을 속이는 일이다. 모든 것을 다하여 하나님만을 사랑하라 명령하셨다.
- 이웃은모든 인류 가운데 우리와 가까이 사는 사람들이다. 나를, 하나님의 형상을 닮은 피조물로, 챙기고, 돌보고, 사랑하듯이, 같은 정도로, 이웃을 그리 사랑하라 하신 것이다.
- 이웃을사랑 않으면, 보이지 않는 하나님을 사랑 않는 것으로 여기신다 (로마서 13:9; 요한 1서 3:17). 하지만, 하나님을 첫째로 사랑 않으면, 진정으로 자신을, 그리고 이웃을 사랑할 수 또한 없다. 하나님 보다 우선 자신이나, 이웃을 사랑하거나, 동등시 하는 우상의 자리에 들어 서기 때문이다.
(1. God made us His own children by His Covenant. Therefore it is not just a command to say ’obey God your King!’, rather it is an ordered duty to “love God”. It is not optional like recommendation, advice, or exhortation, rather is a Covenantal Command. It was given as a command to love your husband, your parents on top of obedience. When we obey God’s command we show our love for Him. Likewise, when we obey our parents, we show our love for them. Without a love, there is not a true obedience. Without obedience, the love is just a fleeting, warm emotion. It deceives oneself and God. With all we have we must love God including our obedience to Him.
- The neighbor is the ones near to us out of all human race. As I am the image of God, so are our neighbors. Therefore, as much as I take care of myself, I must do the same to my neighbors.
- If we don’t love our neighbor, we in fact do not love the invisible God, Romans 13:9; 1 John 3:17. Yet if we do not love God foremost and first of all, we cannot love ourselves, or our neighbor as God commands us. If we love our neighbor and, or ourselves as much as we love God, we make ourselves or neighbor as our God. They become our idols)
