열 번째 주일(주의 날) (LORD’s Day 10)
28문) 하나님께서 만물을 창조하시고, 여전히 자신의 섭리로 만물을 유지하고 계심을 아는 것이 우리에게 무슨 유익을 주나요?
답) 어려운 일 속에서 우리로 견디게 하시고. (1) 형통할 때에 감사케 하시며, (2)
앞 날에 대해서 우리의 신실하신 하나님이시요, 아버지께 확실한 믿음을 가지고 있기에, 그 어느 피조물이라도 그 분의 사랑에서 우리를 떼어 놓을 수 없습니다.(3)
왜냐하면, 모든 피조물들이 완전히 그 분의 손 안에 있기 때문에, 그 분의 뜻을 거스려 움직일 수도 없기 때문입니다. (4)

Question 28. What does it benefit us to know that God has created all things and still upholds them by his providence?
Answer: We can be patient in adversity, (1) thankful in prosperity, (2) and with a view to the future we can have a firm confidence in our faithful God and Father that no creature shall separate us from his love; (3)for all creatures are so completely in his hand that without his will they cannot so much as move.(4)

- 우리가 어려움을 만날 때, 하나님의 섭리를 알고 있다면,위로를 받는다. 특히, 어려운 일들이 있을 때, 그 분의 섭리를 기억하고 있다면, 우리는 그 어려움을 견딜 수가 있다. 반면에, 모든 게 잘 될 때, 우리가 노력을 해서 그리 잘 되었다고 할 게 아니라, 우리를 향하신 하나님 아버지의 섭리 덕분에 만사 형통해 졌음을 고백해야만 한다. 참된 그리스도인들만이 만사형통 할 때에도, 하나님의 섭리 때문이라고 고백할 수가 있다.
- 하나님의 섭리 밖에서는 우리에게 그 어떤 일도 일어 날 수 없음을 우리는 항상 확신하고 있어야만 한다. 그렇다면 모든 게 형통할 때 우리는 어떻게 하나님께 감사해야 할까? 우리에게 만사형통을 허락하실 때, 우리가 그 주신 선물들을 하나님의 정해 놓으신 법칙에 따라서만 사용하여 하나님을 섬길 때, 우리는 겸손히 참된 감사를 그 분께 드리는 것이다.
- 작고, 별 볼일 없는 흔하디 흔한 일들 속에서 우리는 날마다 하나님의 우리를 향하신 선하심과 섭리를 보아야만 한다. 풀과 잎새, 먹는 것과 마시는 것,비가 오거나, 오지 않을 때 등등에서도 반드시 우리를 향하신 하나님의 섭리를 참으로 인정하여야만 한다. 물론 큰 일들 속에서도 우리는 하나님의 섭리를 볼 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 우리의 삶은 날마다 대부분 별 볼일 없는 것들로 채워지기 때문에,그 자그맣고 소소한 것들 속에서도 그 분의 섭리를 보아야만 한다.
(1. The knowledge of God’s Providence comforts us in our hard times. Specially, when we face difficult times, because of His Providence, we can be patient. When everything goes well with us, we must confess that it is not my own effort, but His Fatherly Providence that gives us prosperity. Only humble Christians would acknowledge it in their prosperity.
- We must uphold this confidence at all times that because of God’s Providence nothing can happen to us by chance. And how to show our gratitude to God in our prosperity? Only when we use all God’s gifts to serve Him in accordance to His established rules, we show our humble and true thankfulness to Him.
- If we cannot see God’s good pleasure and Providence every day in trifle and mundane things, like rain and drought, leaf and blade, food and drink, etc., we are not truly acknowledging His Providence in our daily life. Extraordinary things can happen to us by His Providence, too. But we must see God’s Fatherly Providence even in small and trifle things around us every day to be thankful to Him for those insignificant things.)
