I. 이 세상의 마지막 때에 관한 가르침 (24:1-25:46)
3. 주님의 오심과 그분을 기다림 (24:29-51)
인자가 오기 전에 나타날 징조들에 관해 말씀하신 후, 예수님께서는 자신의 오심 자체에 대해 말씀하셨다 (24:29-31). 주님의 말씀이 구약의 예언들에 깊이 뿌리를 두고 있기에, 예언의 틀에 따른 특징들에 따라 아 말씀을 이해할 필요가 있다. 그리고 몇 가지 되지 않지만, 신약의 예언들도 있기에, 이 또한 그리 이해를 해야 한다. 그러하나, 몇 귀절들을 문자 그대로 이해를 해야 할 경우들이 있기도 하다 (베드로후서 3:10; 요한계시록 21:1).
1) 주님께서 오실 때, 크게 드러날 변화들은 다음과 같다:
(1) 온 우주가 불로써 완전하게 온전히 정화될 것이다 (베드로후서 3:7, 11, 12).
(2) 새롭게 거듭나는, 갱신이 있을 것이다. 불이 우주의 모든 것들을 완전히 다 태워 없이해 버릴 것은 아니다. 여전히 같은 하늘과 지구가 (땅이) 있을 것이지만, 아주 새롭게 되어 영광스러운 모습이 될 것이다 (베드로후서 3:13; 요한계시록 21:1-5).
(3) 그처럼 어마어마한 변신은 피조물들이 본래 창조된 본연의 모습들을 온전히 회복하여 완성된 모습들로 갱신이 될 것이다. 당연히 그 어떠한 형태의 흠도 티도 없이 완전한 자유를 누리는 완성된 본연의 모습들로 바뀔 것이다 (로마서 8:18-22). 그러한 모습들로 갱신될 때까지 모든 피조물들은 사람의 죄와 그에 따라 그가 처한 저주아래 놓인 상황 때문에 허무함에 복속되어 계속 머무르게 된다. 따라서, 모든 피조물들은 그날이 오기 전까지 창조된 본연의 완성되어 완전한 모습들을 가지지 못할 것이다.
(4) 마지막으로, 이러한 피조물들의 갱신은 상호간에 완전한 조화를 이루게 될 것이다. 현재로는 파조물들이 창조주의 만드신 그 본연의 모습들을 완전히 가질 수가 없기에, 상호간에 완전한 조화와 평화가 있을 수 없다.
2) 예수님께서 (인자 혹은 메시야) 공중에서 구름위에 권능과 크신 영광으로 큰 나팔소리와 함께 갑자기 나타나실 모습 그 자체가 마지막 징조가 될 것이다. 하나님의 모든 성도가 간절히 그리고 즐거이 그 마지막 징조를 보고 듣기를 기대하고 있다. 그 징조는 레위기 25장에서 명령하신 50년째의 희년에 자유를 선포하는 나팔소리가 상징하던 실체가 완성되는 날이 될 것이다. 그날에, 하나님의 택함을 받은 자녀들이 예수님께서 보내신 천사들에 의해 이 지구상의 모든 곳에서 이끌림을 받고 예수님 앞으로 함께 모여지게 되며 그들이 누릴 완전한 자유를 온 우주에 걸쳐 선포하여 하나님의 영원한 희년을 그 자녀들에게 알리는 나팔소리가 될 것이다.

날마다 우리의 삶에서 주 예수님 그리스도께서 오실 것을 언제나 간절히 기대하고 있는가?

3. The Coming of the Lord and Watching for Him (24:29-51)
After telling the signs that will precede the Son of Man’s coming, Jesus goes on to describe that coming itself (24:29-31). His description is deeply rooted in the OT prophecies, and must be interpreted in light of the style that is characteristic of that type of literature. Even in a few cases they are found in the NT. Yet at least some of it must be taken literally like in 2 Peter 3:10 and Revelation 21:1.
1. The great change that will take place may be described as follows:
1) The universe will have been purged completely by a great fire (2 Peter 3:7, 11, 12).
2) There is going to be a rejuvenation. The fire will not completely destroy the whole universe. It will be still the same heavens and earth, but gloriously renewed as described in both 2 Peter 3:13 and Revelation 21:1-5.
3) Such a great transformation is a form of self-realization that the organic realm of creation will attain to its self-expression and complete liberty without any defects or blemishes (Romans 8:18-22). Until such a glorious transformation, creation is subjected to futility due to man’s sin and cursed situation under which he is. Until that day, nature will not come to self-realization or self-expression.
4) Finally, this transformation will include a perfect harmonization. Currently, nature cannot attain its full self-realization, so a perfect harmony and peace is lacking in it.
2. The sudden appearance of Jesus (Son of Man and Messiah) in the sky upon the clouds with power and great glory, and with a loud trumpet blast is the last sign that all the saints of God will earnestly and joyfully look forward to seeing and hearing. It will be the fulfillment of the trumpet ordinance in Leviticus 25, and will proclaim liberty throughout the whole universe for all the children of God, His elect gathered by Jesus-sent angels from all and every side of the world, their eternal jubilee.

Are we always be expecting earnestly and looking forward to coming of the Lord Jesus in our daily life?
